Gisli Hauksson, Co-founder of GAMMA Capital Management was profiled in Reuters about the prospects for Icelanders increasing their foreign investment as capital controls decrease.

Allocators should raise their foreign investments in order to be less dependent on the domestic economy. Research conducted by GAMMA revealed that local pension funds, insurance companies and households only have 10-20 percent of their assets in foreign investments. Conversely, the foreign asset ratio of other small open European economies is often much higher than Iceland‘s, such as in the Baltic states where it exceeds 60 percent. GAMMA told Reuters that that over the next 5-10 years, Icelandic investors are going to aim for a foreign exposure of 40-50 percent, the equivalent of investing up to $26 billion.
